What to Include in a Contractor Quote
Put the scope, price terms and assumptions in writing before work starts. Use the quote to explain what is included and how you will handle changes.
Make the price terms clear
State whether the price is fixed for the listed scope. If you plan to allow price adjustments, explain the conditions and how changes will be approved. List any assumptions about quantities, site conditions or material choices.
What to include in your quote
- Your company name and contact details
- The customer and job address
- An itemized scope: line items with quantities, units and rates
- Options, if there is more than one material or approach, so the customer clearly sees every choice
- What is included and what is not
- Assumptions (measurements, site conditions, material choices)
- How changes are handled: priced in writing before the work is done
- Deposit and payment terms
- A place to sign and date
Approval before work starts
Get the customer's approval of the scope, price and terms before ordering materials or starting work. Ask them to sign and date the quote.
Changes after signing
For an added gate, a thicker slab or extra hauling, describe the change and its price in writing. Get the customer's written approval before doing the added work.
Doing this in QuoteMaven
The customer signs the quote through a private link in their browser, with nothing to install. The signed quote becomes an invoice automatically. QuoteMaven also supports custom labels.
